The gate
A few years ago, accompanied by someone special, we visited Cerro Santa Lucía. We took a leisurely stroll, enjoying the peaceful ambiance of the surroundings. After some time, we stumbled upon a closed pathway, but our curiosity urged us to continue along it. To our surprise, it led us to the viewpoint at the summit, which was not accessible to the general public. Despite its restricted access, we noticed a few other tourists who had managed to find their way there.
There were viewing machines available, and we had fun using them to observe Santiago from a distance. It was fascinating to see the cityscape in miniature and appreciate the distant views.
When we decided to descend, twilight had already begun to settle, and we found the gates of the hill closed. There was no sign of the guards. We walked along the paths, searching for an exit, a mixture of laughter and slight concern. We encountered a few individuals who informed us that this was a common occurrence and that they typically found a way out by opening a gate. And that's how we ended up climbing the gate and making our way onto the street, a little adventure to conclude our visit to the hill.
It was a very enjoyable experience indeed.
